The film follows the struggles of young Rasmus Quaade, who is trying to become a professional cyclist. For the plan to work out, he has to overcome a number of his weaknesses. It is a personal story of a man not only fighting with the deficiencies of his body, but also going through an internal struggle concerned with the meaning of life and death. It is this search for meaning that becomes for him the greatest obstacle to achieving the world championship. In order to win, he has to mature and find internal harmony.
